FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2015 Henry Woods Student Leadership Award will recognize one female and one male graduating senior at the University of Arkansas who has an outstanding record of student leadership.

The award, established in honor of Henry Woods, a 1973 U of A graduate, provides a $750 scholarship for each recipient for the spring semester.

Graduating seniors (undergraduates) must complete the online application in its entirety. The application may be accessed at http://studentaffairs.uark.edu.

Autumn Lewis and Cameron Washington Woods were last year’s recipients. Lewis was the Associated Student Government chief of staff, chair of the Volunteer Action Center and an intern in the chancellor’s office. Woods served as the National Pan-Hellenic Council president, which was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Council by the National NPHC under his leadership. He was also a Silas Hunt Scholar and active in his fraternity.

Henry Woods was involved in a variety of student organizations and edited The Razorback yearbook during his undergraduate career. Following graduation in 1973 from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, Woods worked in Washington D.C., on the staffs of congressman Bill Alexander, and senators David Pryor, Dale Bumpers and Blanche Lincoln.  Woods strived to advocate and improve the quality of life for Arkansans during his 25 years of civic service at our nation’s capital.

Friends and associates of Woods established the award to honor his lasting impact at the University of Arkansas and the state of Arkansas.

The application process will close at noon, Monday, March 16, 2015.  For more information, please contact Carolyn Collins at 479-575-3452 or cdc008@uark.edu.
