Architect Henning Thomsen Presents 'Two Currents' Lecture on March 3

Henning Thomsen will present "Two Currents of Danish Architecture in the 21st Century" on March 3 in Vol Walker Hall on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Henning Thomsen will present a lecture titled "Two Currents of Danish Architecture in the 21st Century" at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. Refreshments will be served.

Thomsen is an architect and urban designer from Copenhagen, Denmark. He is the program firector for architecture and design at DIS-Danish Institute for Study Abroad, where he has been a faculty member since 1997.

He has worked for both public and private organizations: as chief executive officer of the Danish Architects Association, as Head of Division at the Danish Architecture Center and as Senior Consultant and Culture and Communications Manager with world-renowned Gehl Architects, among others. He has written extensively on architecture and urban design, and has lectured and consulted in Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland and India.

In this lecture, he will take stock of the current developments in Danish architecture as they unfold between a strong Scandinavian tradition and the funky ideas of the "new kids on the block."
