Burr to Speak on U.S. and South/Southeast Asia Trade

Mara M. Burr, senior vice president at Albright Stonebridge Group and former deputy assistant United States trade representative, will speak Thursday, March 12, on the University of Arkansas campus.

Her address will be at 6 p.m. in Willard J. Walker Hall Room 403. Her lecture, "Prospects for U.S. and South/Southeast Asia Trade under the Trans-Pacific Partnership," is free and open to the public. Submit your name to RSVP.

Burr leads the firm's India and South Asia practice. Prior to joining the Albright Stonebridge Group, Burr served as deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for South and Central Asian Affairs. While there Burr was responsible for negotiating trade, investment and economic policy issues for the 14 countries of South Asia and Central Asia.

From 2004 to 2010, Burr served as the deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for environmental and natural resources, where she was the lead environment negotiator for the United States-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement, the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement, the United States-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement and the U.S. implementation work on the environment chapter of the United States-Central America Free Trade Agreement.

Burr also has practiced international trade law in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Hamline University School of Law and the University of St. Thomas.
