FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Journalism students at the University of Arkansas are putting on a “Woo Bid Sooie” online auction as a part of the 60th anniversary of the Journalism Department. The auction is open now and taking bids through 10 a.m. Monday, March 30.

This year the auction features exciting new items, such as two tickets to either a Jason Aldean concert or a Kenny Chesney concert, both in Tulsa, a gift certificate for a helicopter ride over Northwest Arkansas, and a guided tour of a local brewery.

The auction will also feature items that have been popular in past years, such as a personal tour of Crystal Bridges, tickets to sit in the chancellor’s box for a Razorback football game and a wide variety of activities on campus and around Northwest Arkansas.

Popular journalism faculty members have also offered a chance to share some of their favorite activities, including golf and a Hogs baseball game.

Anyone interested in bidding on items simply need to browse the website and place their bids. The person with the highest bid on each item will be contacted once the auction closes.

Proceeds of this auction benefit the Student Travel Fund. This fund benefits graduate and undergraduate students who want to attend professional organization conferences for training and for other journalism-related opportunities. All proceeds received through this auction are for the purchase of a product or service and are not tax-deductible charitable gifts.

This auction is scheduled just before the start of J-Days, which will host many alumni of the university and the department. These alumni can also show their continuing support by bidding on any of the items available in the auction.

About Journalism Days: J-Days is a week of events each spring sponsored by the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism to celebrate the department's students and alumni. Throughout the week, alumni and other friends of the department visit classes to inspire the students and to confirm that the skills they are learning in the classroom are those they will need in the workplace.
