UA On the Move Seeks Feedback on Campus Transportation

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – More than 5,000 students, faculty, and staff participated in a campus-wide transportation survey in January 2015. To showcase the results and early recommendations, the University of Arkansas is holding its first-ever Transportation Open House: UA on the Move, to deepen the conversation.

Transit, traffic, parking, bike and sustainable campus transportation experts will be set up in the Living Room at the Arkansas Union from March 30 to April 1 (no fooling!). They want to hear from staff, faculty, students, and campus visitors how people get to, from and around campus; ideas for the campus transportation system in the future; and input on potential design and policy solutions.

“The campus is growing fast and we need to make sure we’re planning for more sustainable, efficient, and safer ways of travel,” said campus planner Jill Anthes. “If you have an idea about transportation, don’t keep it to yourself. Come tell us!”

Get Involved

There are several ways to provide feedback on transportation ideas over the three days.

1. Visit the experts in the Living Room: 
   • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, March 30
   • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 31
   • 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, April 1
2. Join a walkabout or pop-up workshop and have a chance to meet with transportation experts to design potential solutions and comment on initial ideas regarding parking costs, ideas for tackling UA’s hilly campus and better accommodating bikes and pedestrians.
3. Meet with national transit experts at Union Station to talk about the UA bus system. Follow #UAtrans to find out more information about these events and visit the website at www.uatransportationplan.org to comment on an interactive map or participate in an open forum.
