New Grants Program Announcement for Faculty

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations within University Development invites faculty who are outstanding early career scientists to apply for nationally competitive Faculty Scholars grants.

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Simons Foundation would like to call your attention to a joint national competition for grants to outstanding early career scientists as Faculty Scholars.

Awardees will receive a five-year, non-renewable grant whose size will be based on several factors, including the amount of external funding the scientist has at the time of the grant. The grants will range from $100,000 to $400,000 per year for direct costs.

There are no limits on the number of applicants or awardees from any eligible institution, and candidates apply directly without an institutional nomination. Both basic researchers and physician scientists are welcome in this open competition. HHMI, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Simons Foundation encourage applications from women and minorities underrepresented in the biomedical and biological sciences.

Faculty with impressive accomplishments and who have strong potential to make groundbreaking contributions are encouraged to apply.

For more information, including eligibility criteria, see www.hhmi.org/faculty-scholars.

All questions should be directed to facultyscholars@hhmi.org

All faculty who apply for this excellent opportunity, please notify Marla Mayberry at 575-2638 or mcmayber@uark.edu.
