Razorback Diving Club Offers Lessons for Youth Age 7 and Up

Do you like watching diving from the summer Olympics? Those dreams start here at the HPER pool with the Razorback Diving Club. The Razorback Diving Club team is a lesson/club program for kids 7 and up to learn about the sport of diving. From the beginner to the advanced, all are welcome. The club is hosting the USA Diving Region 4 meet at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building in April. This meet is the first step for athletes to qualify for USA Diving Nationals in August. The regional meet will qualify the top athletes to attend the Zone meet in Moultrie, Georgia in June. From Moultrie they can then qualify for nationals in Florida. There is no admission cost to come watch from the stands.

Events are as follows: Friday, April 24, 5:30 p.m. ages 11 and under, followed by 12-13 age group. Saturday, April 25, events start at 10:30 a.m. for the young age groups and last all day ending with 16-18 age group. Sunday events start at 10:30 a.m. for the 14-15 followed by 16-18 age groups. The athletes will be performing on 1-meter (low board), and 3-meter (high board) springboards.

The lessons are offered at the HPER Building natatorium on the University of Arkansas campus and taught by Jeff DiNicola, coach of the University of Arkansas diving team.
