The Career Development Center and the Office of Field Placement and Licensure in the College of Education and Health Professions will host the second annual Teaching Fair on April 9 for University of Arkansas students interested in education employment opportunities.

The career fair will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Verizon Ballroom in the Arkansas Union.

This year, nearly 25 school districts in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee and Illinois have registered to attend the fair. Last year, 147 students and 17 school districts attended, said Leah Chamberlain, director of the Office of Field Placement and Licensure.

"We have reports from several districts last year that they selected students to interview based on interactions and conversations at the fair and that they eventually ended up hiring these students," Chamberlain said. "It's a great opportunity for both our students and schools to make connections. The fair is aimed at graduating teacher candidates looking for teaching positions for fall 2015, but is open to anyone to attend."
