Student Volunteers Needed for Project Clean Plate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Chartwell’s Dining Services and Razorback Food Recovery are sponsoring a campaign initiative called Project Clean Plate from April 6-17. The goal is to reduce food waste by encouraging students to only take the food they will eat and to eat the food they take.

Volunteers will be stationed in Brough Commons, Pomfret Hall, and Fulbright (Quad) Dining Hall during lunch and dinner. The volunteers will raise awareness by talking with students about Project Clean Plate, and engage them with games and trivia. There will be a Clean Plate Pledge sheet for volunteers to use in recruiting student signatures for project awareness. Those who volunteer for an hour or more will receive a free Clean Plate Project T-shirt and a free meal in the dining hall.

The short-term goal of this initiative is to reduce food waste in the dining halls over for the rest of the school semester. The long-term goal includes encouraging student awareness and a proactive change to more mindful eating habits.
