Screen 'The Hunting Ground' Documentary and Join in Panel Discussion

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, local and campus organizations are partnering to screen The Hunting Ground documentary on April 15 in the Graduate Education Building on the U of A campus (751 W Maple Ave). An information fair will kick off the event at 6:30 p.m. with the screening beginning at 7p.m.

Immediately following, there will be a panel discussing sexual assault on campus featuring representatives from: STAR Central, University of Arkansas, NWA Center for Sexual Assault, John Brown University and NorthWest Arkansas Community College.

The Hunting Ground is a documentary that discusses how some colleges and universities have dealt poorly with the issues of sexual assault on their campuses and the toll it took on victims and their families. The NWA Center for Sexual Assault and the University of Arkansas are presenting this film as a way to open up a discussion with students about the resources available to them, ways that local colleges and universities address sexual assault reports and the types of support students can receive.

The event is free and open to the public. This program is a collaborative effort sponsored by the NWA Center for Sexual Assault, STAR Central and Associated Student Government Graduate Student Congress at the University of Arkansas.

For more information about the event, contact Chelsea Miller with the NWA Center for Sexual Assault at 479-445-6448 or by email at nwarcc.chelsea@gmail.com. For information about the services available to victims of sexual assault on the University of Arkansas campus, contact Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert at mwyandt@uark.edu.
