Ice Cream Social to Honor Service of Gearharts

The University of Arkansas will honor David and Jane Gearhart for their service to the university with an ice cream social from 2:30-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in the Arkansas Union Connections Lounge.

Stop for one scoop or more and say thanks to Chancellor Gearhart for the leadership that he and his wife have provided for the university for 20 years. While Gearhart was vice chancellor, the university conducted the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century, which raised more than $1.046 billion, including the largest single gift to a university, a $300 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation to endow the Graduate School and create the Honors College.

Since becoming chancellor, the university has grown in number and quality of its student body, in size of its endowment, the breadth and depth of its research portfolio, and in respect from its national peers.

Celebrate the success with some ice cream on Wednesday.
