Kinesiology Student Wins First Place in Research Competition

Lauren Wethington, a University of Arkansas student majoring in kinesiology, took first place April 15 at the annual Honors Research Symposium held by the College of Education and Health Professions.
Sixteen students presented their research projects on posters displayed in the Verizon Ballroom at the Arkansas Union. Members of the college's Honors Council served as judges.
Wethington's project is titled "The ergogenic effects of acute citrulline-malate supplementation on weightlifting performance in trained females." Michelle Gray, assistant professor of kinesiology, is her faculty mentor.
Ashley Six, also a kinesiology student, won second place for her project, "Effect of dehydration on postsynaptic skin blood flow and sweating responses." Her mentor is Matt Ganio, assistant professor of kinesiology.
Emily Janssen, another kinesiology student mentored by Gray, won third place. Her project was titled "Validation of the Tendo Weightlifting Analyzer as a method to assess muscular power."
