Nursing students Gabriel Trubov, Amanda Jones, Evan Cook, Emily Martin and Meshall Khalid volunteered at the May 2 event celebrating the opening of the Razorback Regional Greenway.

University of Arkansas students in the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing volunteered May 2 at the official opening of the Razorback Regional Greenway, providing readings of blood pressure and heart rate to people attending the ceremony in Springdale.

The five students – Evan Cook, Amanda Jones, Meshall Khalid, Emily Martin and Gabriel Trubov – also provided information about the benefits of exercise and how to calculate target heart rate.

The Razorback Regional Greenway is a 36-mile paved, multiuse trail extending from Bella Vista to the south side of Fayetteville.

"Even though the event was held the Saturday before finals week, the students view the trail as vital in our city and campus and wanted to be part of the activities," said Cathy Hale, clinical instructor of nursing. "Gabriel Trubov, a senior nursing student, does not own a car but rather rides his bike to campus and even to his 6:30 a.m. clinicals at hospitals and clinics. He is a frequent user of the Greenway to travel to regional destinations."
