Hendrix Named 2015 Distinguished Alumnus for Entomology Department

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — William Hendrix, a scientist with Dow AgroSciences in Indianapolis, has been named recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award for the Entomology Department in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas.

Hendrix earned a master's degree in entomology from the U of A in 1984. After earning a doctorate at Iowa State University, he began a 25-year career with Dow, where he is currently the business partner for the Coastal States Research and Development Division.

Hendrix has received multiple awards from Dow, including recognition for service to the education of small farmers in developing communities. He serves on the National Advisory Board of Freedom to Work and is the global leader of the Dow GLAD employee resource group.

Hendrix is the supervisor for 15 scientists and two field stations and leads performance management and career advancement reviews. He also balances work plans and manages budgets for the region.

He joined DowElanco as a senior research entomologist in 1989. He has also held positions of development biologist, customer agronomist and global technical expert, all with Dow AgroSciences; and product stewardship specialist for insecticides, seeds and traits, and zonal biology team leader for insect traits and insect management traits and seed treatments.
