Crowder Named State's Top Dietetics Student

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Christina Crowder, an Honors College student in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, has been named the Outstanding Dietetic Student by the Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Crowder, a senior nutrition and dietetics major from Tulsa, is now eligible for the national undergraduate award.

She was recognized at an awards reception at the state’s annual Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics meeting in Little Rock. The academy recognizes emerging leaders and high-achieving students in programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.

“Christina is a terrific student and leader,” said Cindy Moore, director of the didactic program in dietetics. “She is a special person and has distinguished herself in our program. We are pleased to add her to our list of award winners as the top dietetics student in the state.”

Crowder has earned a dietetic internship position at Duke University Hospital. Following the internship, she will take the registration exam and pursue a master’s degree.

The Bumpers College’s School of Human Environmental Sciences has produced the last three state winners. Taylor Martin, who completed a dietetic internship and her master’s degree at St. Louis University, was the 2013 winner and is now a registered dietitian nutritionist in the Dallas area. Jessica Bradley, who completed a dietetic internship at Mississippi State University and plans to complete her master’s degree through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, was the 2014 winner and has accepted a position as a registered dietitian nutritionist in Batesville.
