Air Force ROTC Captain Receives Commendation
Capt. Benjamin C. Young received a commendation medal for meritorious service from the Air Force on June 15. Young has served at the University of Arkansas Air Force R.O.T.C. Detachment 030 for the past three years and is separating from the Air Force to pursue business ventures.
While at the U of A, Young has distinguished himself as an Operations Flight Commander and Recruiting Flight Commander. His outstanding professional skill, leadership and ceaseless efforts have expanded the university's housing scholarship program to include all cadets, making it an attractive incentive for recruiting.
At the 2014 Air Force R.O.T.C. Field Training Encampment, Young led 68 cadets through 49 grueling 18-hour days of training, the rough equivalent of boot camp. His hard work and determination in all things under his purview garnered Young the 2013 Southwest Region Recruiting Flight Commander of the Year Award.
The distinctive accomplishments of Young, while serving with the Air Force R.O.T.C. cadets at the University of Arkansas, reflect positively upon himself, the United States Air Force and the University of Arkansas. His presence at the detachment will be missed.
