Website Chronicles Journalism Students' Experiences in Bolivia
U of A Journalism students, instructors, and their interpreters, college students from Santa Cruz.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Students in the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism have launched a website filled with multimedia reporting from two weeks spent covering news and events in Santa Cruz and Samaipata, Bolivia.
The nine U of A students and two instructor were part of the department’s second International Reporting in Bolivia program with Study Abroad.
The students studied the country and current issues for two weeks before traveling to Santa Cruz in late May. They spent two weeks covering stories such as the Pope Francis' pending visit, LGBT rights, stray dogs, car prices, soccer and homelessness.
The class was led by Ray Minor, journalism instructor, and Rickey Thein, assistant clinical professor.
The website features a dozen news stories and videos completed by the students, along with hundreds of photos.
The class also chronicled the trip on Facebook in the Lemke in Bolivia group and on Twitter @Lemkebolivia.
