FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — WordCamp Fayetteville, the only conference in Arkansas for users of WordPress, will be held Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2. The main conference day will be Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development on the University of Arkansas campus. Social events will be held Friday and Saturday evenings, and a Jam Session on Sunday.

WordCamp Fayetteville is designed for everyone from novice to experienced users who want to learn more about WordPress, a content management system that powers more than 60 million user websites worldwide. WordCamps are supported by local businesses, volunteers and the WordPress Foundation.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Northwest Arkansas native Josepha Haden Chomphosy. Now living in Kansas City, Chomphosy recently joined the Automattic team, the web development organization that powers WordPress globally. She will speak about recent changes in WordPress and how to bridge the digital divide.

WordCamp Fayetteville will offer five track sessions for attendees:

  • WordPress 101: for the beginning WordPress user to learn the basics
  • Publishers: for bloggers, writers, and other content creators who use WordPress
  • Entrepreneur/Business: a new session for businesses and organizations who want to use WordPress for their websites and blogs
  • Designer: for graphic designers and website designers who use WordPress
  • Developer: for those who write plugins, themes and other technical aspects of WordPress

Eric Huber, chief creative officer and co-founder of Blue Zoo Creative of Fayetteville, is the new lead organizer for WordCamp Fayetteville.

"We're grateful that past organizers Christopher Spencer and Angela Belford helped build this event over the past few years," Huber said. “I've always loved the community of WordPress and was so inspired the first year I attended by all the vast knowledge and experiences everyone was willing to share."
