Changes to Blackboard Learn Courses

Starting today, Wednesday, Aug. 12, Blackboard Learn courses will be created automatically for all ISIS-managed classes being taught each semester as part of an ongoing process to integrate Blackboard Learn and ISIS.

Faculty who currently use Blackboard Learn no longer need to request new courses each semester and can start adding content to courses once new courses are available in their My Courses list. Enrolled students with a UARK username and password are automatically added to courses in Blackboard Learn, and changes to the course roster will be updated hourly. By default, courses will remain unavailable to students until the faculty member is ready for student access. For instructions to make a course available, see techarticles.uark.edu/375.

Faculty can request previous course content to be copied into a new course by completing the form at itsforms.uark.edu/blackboard_course_request. Faculty members also have the option to manually copy previous course content by following the instructions at techarticles.uark.edu/376.

Faculty members who do not currently use Blackboard Learn are not required to take any action, and automatically created Blackboard courses will not be visible to students.

Faculty may notice extra courses in Blackboard Learn. All combined classes in ISIS will be merged into a new Blackboard Learn master course, and all included courses will now be listed individually in the My Courses list, some of which were previously hidden. Students will only see the course section in which they are officially enrolled. Faculty can sort and hide sections from their My Courses lists by following the instructions at techarticles.uark.edu/237.

For assistance copying course content, contact the Blackboard Learn Help Desk at 479-575-6804. For assistance using Blackboard Learn features to enhance learning and promote student interaction, contact Global Campus at 479-575-4096 or tips@uark.edu.
