Nearly 300 students, faculty and staff attended the International Culture Team kickoff celebration

The University of Arkansas International Culture Team held its semester kickoff last Friday in Hillside Auditorium. The event attracted nearly 300 international and domestic students, faculty, staff and community members.

The team is a volunteer organization that brings global education to the U of A campus, local schools, businesses and community organizations throughout Northwest Arkansas. During the 2014-15 academic year, 350 International Culture Team members from 62 countries provided cultural lectures and performances for more than 11,200 children and adults.

The goal of the team is "bringing the world to the community." The team is always seeking international and domestic students and scholars who have lived or studied abroad, or just love learning about other cultures, to join the team. To view the upcoming events, visit ictevents.uark.edu.

The International Culture Team provides culture presentations upon request. Whether teaching, performing or demonstrating something from their culture, the team volunteers can tailor their presentations for individual needs.

If you would like to bring different cultures to your class, event or organization, or if you would like more information about the International Culture Team, contact Cynthia Smith at csmith@uark.edu.
