Small Group Training format, RazorFitness, to be offered this fall.

Small Group Training offers a unique opportunity to blend camaraderie of group fitness with the individualized attention of a certified personal trainer. Small Group Training is a great option for those seeking to be a part of a motivating class working towards achieving their fitness goals. Classes range from three to eight participants. Classes are offered at various times throughout the day and are located at the HPER and UREC Fitness Center, depending on class format. The cost for students to participate in the entire eight-week section is $25.00, for all other UREC membership types the cost is $35.

Each participant receives an InBody, body composition screening, before and after the eight-week Small Group Training program. Last year, the mean change in participant's percentage of body fat a 1.18 percent drop for both semesters. Results from previous participants encouraged Linda Fricke, membership coordinator for University Recreation, to register for Small Group Training this fall.

"I have been working out on my own for a while, but I am excited to work out with a group of my friends and gain additional motivation through participating in the class. I feel it will help be stay even more accountable than ever before," one participant said.

Classes meet twice a week for eight weeks and are led by a certified personal trainer. Those interested may try any of the classes for free beginning Monday, Sept. 14, through Thursday, Sept. 17.

Sara Couch Miller, Early Care and Education Projects (ECEP) professional, participated in the Small Group Training classes for the first time last summer.  She was motivated by the consistent professionalism and expertise of her instructor and encourages others to participate in the program.

"My instructor truly connected with his participants and made everyone feel as if each and every one of us mattered. I felt like I could do the exercises at my own pace and was encouraged to push myself further each time."

Register in person by Monday, September 21 at the UREC main office, HPER 225, or  the UREC Fitness Center in the Arkansas Union or online at urec.uark.edu > member services.  The fall 2015 Small Group Training schedule, registration packet and more information for all session dates and times is listed below.
