Jones Success Center Dedication Set for Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Razorback Athletics is inviting fans to attend the dedication of the recently completed Jerry and Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept., prior to the Arkansas-Texas Tech football game. The dedication ceremony will take place outside on the north end of the new Jones Success Center located on Meadow Street between Pomfret Hall and John McDonnell Field.

Jerry and Gene Jones and other members of the Jones family are scheduled to attend along with Chancellor Dan Ferritor, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long and many other distinguished guests.

The Jerry and Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center was made possible by a gift by a $10.65 million gift from the Jones family. In recognition of the gift, the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees named the facility in their honor. The Jones Success Center addresses the academic, nutritional, personal and professional development of more than 460 student-athletes and creates an integrated academic support program focused on the graduation of all student-athletes at the University of Arkansas.

The Student-Athlete Success Center is the new home of the Bogle Academic Center and provided student-athletes with multiple learning environments including academic advising and course preparation, leadership training through the Razorback Leadership Academy, career planning and service learning.

The approximate 55,000-square-foot facility includes 30-plus tutor rooms, 5,000 square feet of open study and lounge space, 3,800 square feet of computer and group lab space, a 135-plus seat auditorium, 90-plus seat multi-purpose room, a Sports Nutrition center with a full-service kitchen and seating for 250 student-athletes, a wellness wing for a sports psychologist and dieticians as well as areas specific to Student-Athlete Development and Educational Enrichment Services.

Fans wishing to attend the ceremony should note that normal game-day parking and traffic flow restrictions will be in effect. Fans may utilize their game-day parking passes or park at Baum Stadium East and ride a free shuttle. The game day shuttle will drop fans off just south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium within close proximity of the Jones Success Center. Fans wishing to return to Baum Stadium East, may catch the shuttle at the same location to return to their vehicles.

Due to the facility’s active use on Saturday, no public tours will be conducted as part of the dedication ceremony.

The dedication is part of a busy weekend that culminates with Arkansas hosting Texas Tech at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium at 6 p.m. on Saturday night. A very limited number of single game tickets are still available as of late Wednesday afternoon and may be purchased here or by calling 1-800-982-HOGS (4647).
