Arkansas Teacher Corps Now Accepting Fellowship Applications for 2016

The Arkansas Teacher Corps at the University of Arkansas is now accepting applications for its fourth class of Fellows. ATC recruits, trains, and supports service-oriented and talented individuals from all majors and backgrounds to serve as teachers for Arkansas students who need them the most.
The program was created in the College of Education and Health Professions and is seeking high-achieving individuals from all majors to teach in high-need school districts. Successful applicants will be placed in a full-time, paid teaching position and receive $15,000 in additional stipends through the course of the three year program.
Applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree by the summer of 2016 as well as demonstrate academic success and a commitment to public service. Information about the program, as well as the online application, can be found at the Arkansas Teacher Corps website.
ATC Fellows are currently working in 25 schools in 19 districts across the state. Last year, the program received over 170 applications and the program plans to place up to 30-40 new teachers in 2016.
Individuals accepted into the program will complete an intensive six-week teacher training program before being placed in an ATC partner district in the fall of 2016. Fellows will participate in continued professional development through the course of the program and teacher mentors are provided by both the school district and the ATC program. Fellows will receive a standard five year teaching license through their service to ATC.
