Dates are being reserved for on-campus visits.

Dates are being reserved for on-campus visits.

Dates have been reserved for U of A System President Don Bobbitt to invite possible chancellor candidates to campus. Those dates are:

  • Oct. 6-7
  • Oct. 12-13
  • Oct. 14-15

A program for the visits is being developed and will include a public forum as well as some small group meetings with student, faculty and staff leaders. Information about each candidate will be shared publicly on the Chancellor Search Website when the candidacy is formalized.

"We wanted to give the campus a heads-up that things are moving quickly," said Laura Jacobs, associate vice chancellor for university relations and search committee chair. "Even though we don't have names to share yet, we knew people would want to plan. We don't want to miss this opportunity."

Public forums with candidates will be recorded and made available to those students, faculty and staff not able to attend.

The committee appointed by U of A System President Don Bobbitt to recruit and recommend candidates for the position of chancellor of the Fayetteville campus met in Dallas Friday, Sept. 25, to have conversations with prospects for the position.

"The individuals we met with were high quality professionals in higher education," said Jacobs. "It was an extraordinary experience to discuss the fantastic opportunity to lead our campus with such academically and administratively qualified people. The entire committee was impressed by not only the caliber of these people, but by the fact that they had an interest in the University of Arkansas, and a good understanding of our strengths and opportunities. I believe our campus would be very pleased.

"After meeting in Dallas, it appears that there is great interest in our position," she said.

The committee is not a decision-making body, and worked with the executive search firm Greenwood/Asher and Associates of Miramar Beach, Fla., to plan the search, create recruitment materials and review applicants and potential applicants.
