U of A, Professor to Receive Awards at LULAC Gala
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —The University of Arkansas and U of A professor Luis Restrepo, will receive awards from local chapters of LULAC -- the League of United Latin American Citizens. The awards will be presented during the will present the University of Arkansas at with its University Service Award for 2015 during the annual Scholarship Gala, hosted by LULAC councils 750 and 756, at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 in the Clinton Presidential Library.
The U of A will receive the University Service Award for recruiting and hiring practices that make it a model for other universities in their outreach strategies for Latino students and faculty.
Luis Restrepo, assistant vice chancellor for diversity and community, and director of La Oficina Latina, will receive the American Dream Award, given to a foreign born U.S. citizen or permanent resident who has succeeded in accomplishing significant advancements in their careers while living in the U.S.
