Tulane Professor to Speak on Post-Katrina School Reforms
Doug Harris
Doug Harris, associate professor of economics at Tulane University, will speak at noon Friday, Oct. 9, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "Taken by Storm: The Effects of the New Orleans Post-Katrina School Reforms."
The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in Room 309, Graduate Education Building.
Harris holds the Schleider Foundation Chair in Public Education at Tulane.
Harris earned a doctorate in economics from Michigan State University in 2000. His research fields are in economics of education. Some of his research interests include teacher labor markets, productivity measurement and incentive design.
Harris is also the director of the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans. He has authored or co-authored many research publications, along with books and other scholarly papers. In 2011, the Harvard Education Press published his book, Value-Added Measures in Education. It was nominated for the National Grawemeyer Award in Education.
