Global Food Security Event Monday; Register to Attend

U.S. Sen. John Boozman joins Ed Fryar of Ozark Mountain Poultry and Stephanie Mercier of Farm Journal Foundation as featured speakers at Monday's "Preparing for 21st Century Policy Choices" event.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Registration is underway for the Monday event featuring noted speakers on the changing landscape of United States agricultural policy and its effect on global food security.

"Preparing for 21st Century Policy Choices" is at 5 p.m. Monday in Hembree Auditorium in the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences Building, and registration is underway.

The discussion brings several political and food industry leaders to campus to examine global food security issues. The event is sponsored by the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Science's Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, the Farm Journal Foundation and the University System Division of Agriculture.

In addition to the discussion, Ed Fryar, president of Ozark Mountain Poultry, and Nathan Reed, owner and operator of Nathan B. Reed Farms and Eldon Reed Farms Inc., will be presented distinguished alumni awards.

Featured speakers include Fryar, U.S. Sen. John Boozman and Dr. Stephanie Mercier with the Farm Journal Foundation.

Reed is participating in a question and answer session with Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wesley Ward, Arkansas Farm Bureau executive vice president Rodney Baker and co-owner of Pendergrass Cattle Company John Paul Pendergrass.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register online.
