FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Wells Clark and Dodge Cowart, students in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships from Farm Credit of Western Arkansas.

Cowart, a 2015 Kirby High School graduate, is majoring in poultry science, while Clark, a 2015 Bentonville High School graduate, is a double-major in agribusiness and agricultural education.

"We proudly award these well-deserved scholarships in recognition of their many academic accomplishments and student leadership," said Glen Manchester, chief executive officer of Farm Credit. "Our scholarships are supporting the future of western Arkansas agriculture, agribusinesses and rural communities. Many recipients have agricultural backgrounds. Some are pursuing agricultural degrees or careers that support agriculture in some way. Others plan to continue living in rural communities. We've distributed $186,000 in scholarship awards since 1996 to assist talented young people like Dodge and Wells in achieving their academic goals."

A total of 20 western Arkansas students were awarded academic scholarships from Farm Credit.

Farm Credit helps finance farms, agricultural businesses and the rural lifestyle which directly benefits western Arkansas communities.
