Graduate School to Host Diversity Scholars Visitation Program
The Graduate School and International Education is hosting a Diversity Scholars Visitation program Nov. 8-10. The program aims to increase the diversity of the graduate student body by providing prospective graduate students from historically under-represented backgrounds an opportunity to visit the University of Arkansas.
The program will allow prospective students to meet one-on-one with graduate faculty members in their departments, learn about research being conducted on campus and interact with current graduate students to learn about their experiences at the U of A first-hand.
During the program, participants will tour the U of A campus and Fayetteville, learn about graduate school funding opportunities and take part in a panel of corporate professionals from diverse backgrounds. The prospective students will also be invited to a series of lectures by leaders in the minority community. More information about the lecturers is forthcoming.
The program is open to juniors, rising seniors and master's students planning to pursue a doctoral degree. Special consideration will be given to students from historically black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions and tribal colleges. Individuals from underrepresented minority groups and disadvantaged backgrounds will also be considered, as will first-generation and non-traditional students.
The Graduate School will provide transportation, lodging and meals for program participants. Participants will also be granted a graduate application fee waiver.
