Show Off Your #AutumnAtArkansas Moments With the Division of Student Affairs

What happens when you get 425 acres filled with 2,453 trees from 79 different species all turning different colors and scattering their leaves about? You get autumn at the University of Arkansas.

The Division of Student Affairs is celebrating the beauty of campus during the changing seasons with the Autumn at Arkansas photo contest.

The contest will run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 12. All photo entries can be posted on Instagram or Twitter with the tag #AutumnAtArkansas. Photos must have the hashtag to qualify. The original photo file must also be saved for future promotional material for the Division.

The winner will receive a 50 dollar gift card to the University of Arkansas bookstore, which can be used at any location operated by the bookstore. The winning photo will also be featured on the Division of Student Affairs website.

With over 100 photos submitted last year, students captured Old Main and maple trees, the sun lighting up the fall skyline and Senior Walk embellished with red, yellow and orange leaves.

"This is such a breathtaking campus and its absolutely beautiful at the beginning of the fall," Breanna Tidwell, social media graduate assistant for the division, said. "This is a great way for students to capture, admire and appreciate the beauty of the university landscape."

Students can submit up to three photos for the contest.

"Take lots of photos," Tidwell said. "There are so many beautiful places on campus to admire the fall landscape, but only submit your best shots. I was really impressed with the beauty students captured last year, and I'm excited to see what new shots and moments they submit this year."

All photo rights of submitted images remain with the owner, but the university does have all right of use for the photos submitted.

Tidwell said the Autumn at Arkansas contest is a way for students to get creative and share their photos of campus.

"We're looking for those iconic photos of Old Main, but we also want to see students think outside of the box," Tidwell said. "Submit parts of campus that not everyone might see, or that morning moment you experience walking to class. The more colorful and unique, the better."

All photo submissions will be judged by university staff members who specialize in photography. For more information, contact Breanna Tidwell at bgtidwel@uark.edu.
