FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas staff and faculty have so far donated $117,061 to the U of A United Way campaign – 73 percent of the campaign goal.

The money raised goes to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas to provide services for the 26,000 children who live in poverty in Northwest Arkansas.

The fund drive ends Saturday, Oct. 31. You’ve probably heard this before, but no gift is too small – because we are United.

There is still time to make donations online at http://unitedway.uark.edu  or through the campaign pledge cards. All cards that are turned in by Friday, Oct. 31 will be eligible for the final drawing for five $100 Walmart gift cards.

Last week’s gift card winners were:

  • Zachary Whisenant, Facilities Management
  • Juana Gilstrap, Registrar’s Office, who says sheplans to donate the gift card to the United Way
  • Bill Schwab, Sociology, who has also donated his gift card to the United Way
  • Barbara Stephenson, Mathematical Sciences
  • An employee from Mullins Library who wished to remain anonymous

Congratulations to all, and thanks for everyone for helping make our Community Strong – Child by Child.
