Ozark Hall to Be Re-Named, Dedicated to Honor Chancellor Emeritus Gearhart

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The campus community is invited to the dedication of G. David Gearhart Hall, during a ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Ozark Hall will be officially re-named in honor of the U of A’s fifth chancellor, who retired on July 31.

The UA System Board of Trustees approved the re-naming in September, in recognition of Gearhart's service to the university.

UA System President Don Bobbitt, interim Chancellor Dan Ferritor, Charles Robinson, vice chancellor for diversity and community and vice provost for student affairs, and Chancellor emeritus Gearhart will speak at the event.

Gearhart served as vice chancellor for advancement from 1998 to 2008 and as chancellor from 2008 to 2015. He will return to campus in fall 2016 as a faculty member of the College of Education and Health Professions.

Gearhart Hall is home to the Honors College, the Graduate School and International Education and the Department of Geosciences.
