Virginia Tech Professor to Give Webinar on Water Intake, Weight Management, Health

Brenda Davy, an associate professor at Virginia Tech who conducts research on the role of diet and physical activity in the prevention and treatment of obesity and related conditions, will present "Beyond Hydration: Water Intake, Weight Management, and Health" in a webinar and in person at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the University of Arkansas.

Davy directs the Laboratory for Eating Behaviors and Weight Management at Virginia Tech.

The seminar by Davy, who is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and The Obesity Society, is part of the Hydration Lecture Series sponsored by the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. It is free and open to the public. Online registration is required to view the webinar. Registration is followed by a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

Davy will speak in Room 311 of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building. To attend in person, RSVP by email to suh@uark.edu.

Davy also studies beverage consumption and weight management and dietary assessment methodologies. She earned a bachelor's degree in human nutrition in 1989, a master's degree in exercise physiology in 1992, both from Virginia Tech, and a doctorate in human nutrition in 2001 from Colorado State University.

She serves on the Board of Editors for the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
