Over the next two years big changes are coming to the University of Arkansas' Integrated Student Information System (ISIS). And on Jan. 11, 2016, those changes are being kicked off with a new name: UAConnect.

Why change the name? Since it was unveiled more than 15 years ago, the system has evolved from a single integrated software application into a powerful student data system that is critical to the success of University of Arkansas students and the daily business of the campus. Changing the name is an opportunity to signal both the expansion and purpose of the system.

"While planning for our upgrades, we realized that the name 'integrated student information system' or ISIS is really a missed opportunity to let students know every day how important the system can be to their success on campus. By 'connecting' students, they can complete a degree audit daily, check grades, and find their adviser. Parents can pay bills and much more," explained Dave Dawson, associate vice provost for enrollment services and university registrar.

"Faculty and departments are also regular users who are able to connect more effectively with students in a long list of ways that is continuing to expand. The upcoming system upgrades and associated enhancements give the University an excellent opportunity to update the system name to better reflect the current and future use — that of being the integral connection to campus for students, faculty, staff and parents," Dawson said.

One of the first enhancements scheduled to be unveiled this spring is the move to single sign-on through the UARK Central Login. Currently, administrative users are required to use a separate, system-specific password to log into the system. Once the new single sign-on option is enabled, faculty and staff will access UAConnect using UARK credentials, just as students do currently.

A new name and method of logging in are just the beginning. Additional enhancements and system upgrades will be announced over the course of the next 24 months.
