U of A United Way Thanks Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas faculty and staff contributed $157,735.44 during the campus United Way fall campaign this year. That total represented 97 percent of the campaign goal of $160,000.
“This is the most money the U of A United Way has raised since the 2007-2008 campaign, and we can’t thank our faculty and staff enough,” said campaign co-chair Marty Matlock. “Just as impressive: 32 percent of our faculty and staff participated in the campaign, a huge improvement over the past few years.”
The funds raised in this year’s campaign --“Community Strong – Child by Child” --went to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas to support 57 agencies and 67 programs that help children in the region who live in poverty.
“I can’t say enough about the work that our campus volunteers did this year,” said co-chair Kim LaScola Needy. “Their efforts all through the October campaign really made a difference -- reaching out to the people in their units, organizing fundraisers, offering gentle reminders and getting the message out that contributing to the United Way makes a positive difference to the children in our community.”
Since 1992 the U of A United Way campaign has raised nearly $2.9 million for the United Way agencies in Northwest Arkansas.
