Anne Marie Holimon has been named employee of the second quarter by the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Holimon is an administrative support supervisor in the Office of the Vice Provost for Distance Education. She works with staff throughout the Global Campus and supports human resource and staff development processes.

She served on the University of Arkansas' United Way Planning Committee as the representative for the Global Campus and as the chair of the internal Global Campus United Way Fundraising Committee, all while continuing to fulfill her normal job functions.

Holimon worked with campus campaign organizers, Northwest Arkansas United Way Chapter staff and Global Campus staffers to develop unique campaign-related fundraising activities and initiatives. Those efforts resulted in the Global Campus' 100 percent participation rate.  Under her leadership, fundraising efforts were not only successful, with the Global Campus contribution surpassing the previous year's contribution by 20 percent, the events were also innovative, fun and fostered an environment of team-building and collaboration amongst staff members.

"I'm so honored to receive this award," Holimon said. "I truly enjoy my work with the United Way; it is such a worthy cause and is rewarding work for me, a labor of love. This years' United Way campaign was incredibly successful, not only in regards to fundraising, but we also increased the engagement of faculty and staff, and hopefully motivated others to work together for the benefit of the Northwest Arkansas community. Our internal United Way committee members were an inspiration to our staff, did a super job with the events, and were true advocates for the goal, so this is really 'our' award."

Javier Reyes, vice provost for distance education, presented the award to Holimon at a recent ceremony and thanked her for leading the Global Campus' contributions to the university's United Way campaign.

"We are proud of the tremendous work and enthusiasm that Anne Marie put into the United Way campaign," Reyes said. "She took on this leadership role beyond her normal responsibilities and did a fantastic job. We hope this award expresses our team's appreciation of her work in a meaningful way."

Holimon joined the Global Campus in 2006 as an administrative assistant for the Instructional Design and Support Services unit before she moved to the fifth floor to work with the Global Campus' leadership team.

Other nominees for employee of the second quarter include Melody Devere, Vicki Martin, Erin Morgan, Paula Ritchey and Barry Sawyer.

Global Campus staff members nominate candidates, and the directors and the administrative leadership team select the award winner, who receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award
