FAYETTEVILLE -- Javier Reyes, vice provost for distance education at the University of Arkansas, has accepted a position as dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University, effective July 1, 2016.

Reyes has led the U of A’s Global Campus since 2012 and has served as the associate dean for Undergraduate Studies and Executive Education at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, for a second time, since spring 2015.  Reyes joined the university in 2003 as an assistant professor in Walton College.

“We are happy for Dr. Reyes and congratulate him for being chosen for the position of dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University,” said Provost Ashok Saxena. “During his time at the University of Arkansas, he has established himself as a highly accomplished professor and academic leader. He will definitely be missed. Under his leadership, the Global Campus very significantly expanded its reach both in numbers and prestige. We look forward to building on the solid foundation he developed as we continue to enhance our online degree programs and resources in the future.”

Saxena will be meeting with Global Campus staff soon to begin transition planning.

Reyes, who will continue in his current role until June 30, will help ensure a smooth transition in leadership by assisting with the process over the coming months.
