Kenneth Frampton to present 'Comparative Critical Analysis' Lecture on Feb. 22

Kenneth Frampton is the Ware Professor of Architecture at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Kenneth Frampton will present a lecture at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design lecture series.

This lecture, titled "Comparative Critical Analysis," is based on a new book, A Genealogy of Architecture. This is a work devoted to the comparative analysis according to certain criteria of 14 pairs of buildings. This analysis is typologically based in relation to the program of the works in question, beginning with houses and going on to include housing, cities, civic institutions and stadia.

Frampton is the Ware Professor of Architecture at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University in New York. He studied architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He has taught at Princeton University, Royal College of Art, ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne and Accademia di Architettura, in Mendrisio, Switzerland. He is the author of Modern Architecture: A Critical History.
