Engineer's Week Events Calendar

National Engineer's Week, Feb. 21-27, commemorates the contributions engineers make to society. At the University of Arkansas, the Engineering Student Council has organized events to celebrate this week.

Events began on Monday, Feb. 22, with a State of the College Address from John English, dean of the College of Engineering. This event was put on by Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society. There was also a seminar on black history in STEM Monday afternoon put on by the National Society of Black Engineers.

Events for the rest of the week include:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 23 – The Institute of Industrial Engineering is holding a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. on the ramp in the Bell Engineering Center. The American Society of Mechanical Engineering and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is holding a Lockhead Martin informational session at 5 p.m. in MEEG 212.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 24 – Questions and Comida on the ramp in Bell with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers on Wednesday, noon to 2 p.m. Afterwards, a game night with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers will be held at 5pm in the electrical engineering student lounge. From 5:30-6:30 p.m. Engineering World Health is holding a seminar about involvement in world health in ENGR 307.

  • Thursday, Feb. 25 – Donuts will be handed out by the Biological Engineering Student Club from 9-10:30 a.m. on the ramp in Bell. Also on the ramp will be Dippin' with the Deans, put on by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, from 1-3 p.m. At this event, the deans of the college will be serving ice cream.

  • Friday, Feb. 26 – The Society of Women Engineers is hosting a session called, "What You Wish Someone Would Have Told You in College" in Bell 2286, while a bean bag toss held by the American Society of Civil Engineer's will be on the Bell Ramp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spring Bike Drive Refurbishes Old Bikes for New Students

All donated bikes will be given to Pedal It Forward, a local nonprofit that will refurbish your bike and return it to the U of A campus to be gifted to a student in need. Hundreds of students have already benefited.
