Students in the Engineering Summer Academy camp
Do you know a middle school, junior high or high school student who needs something to do this summer? The College of Engineering offers several summer camps for rising 4th through 12th graders. These camps offer hands-on learning experiences and give kids a chance to explore different engineering topics. For more information, visit engineering-camps.uark.edu.
Robotics Engineering Camps
Rising 4th - 7th grade students can select a robotics camp based upon their location. Students with little to no experience with LEGO Mindstorms or who desire to improve their skills can attend Robotics Engineering Camp (Fayetteville: 2 sections during June 20 - 24, 2016; Bentonville: 2 sections during July 11 -15, 2016). Students will spend the week designing, building, programming, and testing LEGO Mindstorm robots.
Engineering Girl Camp
The Engineering Girl Camp is for rising 8th and 9th grade girls. Previous programs looked at alternative energy options by building small windmills and solar cars, used 3-D software to design a novelty box and learned how to use a set of motors and controllers to design and operate a miniature elevator. Participants also explored engineering though field trips to see the daily operations of engineers in industry. Engineering Girl Camp will be held July 18 - 22, 2016.
Explore Engineering Program
The Explore Engineering Programs I and II are for rising 6th - 9th grade students to learn about a different area of engineering each day. Students will explore civil, chemical, computer, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering through activities that are centered around robotics, electronics, structure design, water filtration, roller coasters, chemical reactions, and much, much more! EEP will be held in 3 locations:
- Fayetteville: July 11 - 15, 2016
- Bentonville: June 20 - 24, 2016
- Batesville: June 20 - 24, 2016
Engineering Summer Academy
The Engineering Summer Academy is for rising 10th - 12th grade students. Students will select one of the following session:
- Biomedical Engineering,
- How's it Done--Chemical Engineering Style,
- Introduction to Computing
- Electrical Engineering to explore a specific area in more depth.
The Engineering Summer Academy will be held July 24 - 30 2016.
