Honors College Fellowship Weekend Draws Top Students to Campus

If by chance you see any nervous-looking students dressed for success today, with Honors College nametags around their necks, please make them feel welcome! They are on campus to attend Fellowship Weekend, the Honors College's premier recruiting event.
The Honors College is hosting 144 high-achieving students from high schools across Arkansas and beyond. These students have been selected from a record 778 applicants to interview for fellowships that pay $70,000 over four years.
The students, who must score 32 or higher on the ACT just to be eligible to apply, gathered on campus yesterday to meet current Honors College fellows and tour the college's beautiful home in Gearhart Hall.
Today, in addition to interviewing with honors faculty members, the fellowship finalists are touring Hotz Honors Hall, attending honors classes, and meeting with representatives to learn more about research and study abroad opportunities.
"This has been our most competitive year ever. All of the students selected to attend Fellowship Weekend are top notch, and we want all of these students to choose the University of Arkansas," said Noah Pittman, assistant dean of recruitment and retention.
Up to 90 students will be selected to receive fellowships, and all of them come away winners: all fellowship finalists receive the Chancellor's Scholarship, worth $32,000 over four years.
