The special education program at the University of Arkansas is taking applications for Camp Connect, a summer day camp for children ages 3-12 who have autism.

Information and applications can be found on the website of the special education program in the College of Education and Health Professions. The application is due March 18.

Applications are also being sought for children who do not have autism to act as peer mentors during the camp. The application for those children is due March 31.

There is no cost for the camp. It takes place on the U of A campus.

The camp themes are Dr. Seuss for preschool (June 13-16), "A Minecraft Adventure at Camp Connect" for advanced learners (June 20-23) and "Shipwrecked/Pirates" for intermediate learners (June 27-30).

The purpose of Camp Connect is for children with autism to have fun while connecting with other children who may or may not have autism. Each child with autism will be paired with a peer mentor (with similar interests and age) and a behavior technician student to maximize success.
