Abby Wambach Speaking at U of A

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Abby Wambach, probably the best known American soccer player in the world, will speak at the University of Arkansas at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, in Bud Walton Arena. The event is free, the public is welcome and no tickets are required. 

Wambach is appearing as part of the student-sponsored Distinguished Lecture Series. Her presentation will be a question and answer conversation, moderated by Arkansas Razorback assistant soccer coach Kristi Kiely. Questions can be tweeted by students and other members of the audience during the event.

Wambach will primarily discuss her life, her college career with the University of Florida, and her professional and Olympic achievements. She is also expected to take questions about a recent lawsuit filed by women soccer players challenging the pay scale for women athletes.

Wambach is considered one of the world’s greatest soccer players and a leading voice for women’s sports and for her generation of female soccer players and athletes. She retired in December after a 15-year professional career.
