Journal of Chemical Physics Selects Distinguished Professor's Article as One of 2015's Best

The Journal of Chemical Physics, published by the American Institute of Physics, recently named an article by Peter Pulay, Distinguished Professor of physical chemistry, as one of the most innovative and influential articles of 2015.

Only 65 articles are selected among hundreds each year for this honor — dubbed the Editors' Choice award.

Pulay of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences co-authored "Selection of Active Spaces for Multiconfigurational Wavefunctions" along with colleagues from the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry in Zurich, including Sebastian Keller, Katharina Boguslawski, Tomasz Janowski and Markus Reiher.

The article is now a part of the 2015 JCP Editors' Choice Collection, which was hand-selected by the journal's editors. According to the American Institute of Physics, the articles included "present significant and definitive research in experimental and theoretical areas of the field." The collection is freely available to download through the end of 2016.

"Having Peter's work selected as one of the best of the year by such a prestigious journal further validates the necessity and importance of his research," said Wesley Stites, chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. "We are proud to have him represent our university, college and department."

Pulay holds the Roger Bost Professorship of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
