Staff Senate Scholarship Deadline Extended to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 14

There is still time to apply for the staff senate scholarship. If you missed the deadline, we're now accepting applications for an extension. You must send an email to sscholar@uark.edu by Wednesday, June 8, to let us know that your application is on its way. The extended deadline for applications is now at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, for those who apply for the extension. Applications are available by downloading a PDF of the Staff Senate Scholarship form. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

This year the Staff Senate is excited to announce that we have received matching funds from Chancellor Joseph E. Steinmetz in support of Staff Scholarships, which now doubles our ability to award scholarships to more staff!

Awards: The Staff Senate Scholarship, the Rick A. Haley Memorial Scholarship, the Susan Imes Yell Scholarship, and the Barbara G. Taylor Staff Senate Scholarship will each be available up to the amount of $500.00. The number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined by the number of eligible applicants. Disbursement will be up to $250.00 per semester, spring and fall semesters only.

Purpose: This award was developed to promote and encourage staff development through higher education.

Eligibility: Each applicant must be a 100 percent appointed, full-time University of Arkansas, Fayetteville staff employee. Applicants must also be employed by the University of Arkansas for at least one year prior to the scholarship deadline.

Criteria: The following criteria will be utilized to determine the award. Each applicant must:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to receive the award;
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the fall semester in order to continue the scholarship for the spring semester;
  • Be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours of coursework per semester;
  • Express a desire to contribute to the University through further educational endeavors;
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance in the pursuit of further education;
  • Provide at least two references by submitting two Recommendation Forms; and
  • Finalists may be interviewed by the members of the Scholarship Committee.
