U of A Hosts ACT Academy for Local Students

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Students from Springdale, Rogers, Decatur, Gentry and Lincoln junior and senior high schools will be taking part in an ACT Academy, Monday, June 6 as part of the Educational Talent Search program at the University of Arkansas.

Instructors from the U of A Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education Students will provide students with personalized instruction on the structure of the test, common types of questions, helpful formulas and rules as well as practical strategies for maximizing their scores. Students will also receive prep material to assist them with their upcoming ACT exams.

Talent Search is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides a full spectrum of services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds that have the potential to succeed in higher education. The University of Arkansas has three Talent Search grants which serve 42 target schools. Talent Search is committed to assisting students in overcoming barriers to higher education. Providing services that allow students to successfully perform on the ACT ensures their ability to enter college and be competitive for scholarship opportunities.
