Longtime Health Center Physician Retires After 30 years with University

Dr. Rick Belt, primary care physician for the Pat Walker Health Center, will retire on July 29 after 30 years of service to the University of Arkansas.

To honor Belt's service to the university, the health center will hold a retirement celebration for the campus community from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Elizabeth Phillips Stewart Atrium of the Pat Walker Health Center.

"Dr. Belt has devoted his career to the well-being of students, faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas. His intellect, professional expertise and sincere interest in his work and his patients make him appreciated and valued by many colleagues on our campus," said Mary Alice Serafini, associate vice chancellor and executive director of the health center. "Dr. Belt's retirement caps a very successful career for which he should be congratulated and honored."

Belt earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1974. He joined the health center on Aug. 1, 1986, as a primary care physician, and helped advocate for the health center's Women's Clinic, Nurse Triage program and certified nursing assistant position.
