University Libraries faculty members Martha Parker and Joshua Youngblood were recently elected to important roles in the Society of American Archivists.

Parker, digital services librarian in the Libraries' Digital Services Unit, was elected co-chair of the Metadata and Digital Object Roundtable of the Society of American Archivists. MDOR is one of the organization's largest roundtables promoting "discussion, education, and collaboration among archivists who are interested in digital archival objects and the metadata that enables their access, management, and preservation."

Youngblood, research and outreach services librarian in the Libraries' Special Collections Department, was elected to the society's Research, Access and Outreach Section Steering Committee. The section explores a variety of diverse topics, including archival processing and the use of archival materials in classrooms.

This fall, the University Libraries are also honored to host SAA workshop No. 1752, "Implementing 'More Product, Less Process,'" led by Dennis Meissner, the interim deputy director for programs at the Minnesota Historical Society. For more information or to register, visit the SAA events website
