Homecoming for U of A's Savvy Shields, Miss Arkansas 2016

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A homecoming celebration will be held for U of A senior Savvy Shields, who was crowned Miss Arkansas last month and will be competing in the Miss America pageant in September.

The homecoming will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house. Everyone is welcome. The event is being hosted by the Heart of the Ozarks Scholarship Pageant and the Ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan will present her with the Key to the City.

Shields is an art major at the U of A, but is taking the year off to to fulfill her responsibilities as Miss Arkansas. She will leave to prepare for the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City next week. The competition begins from Sept. 6. The finals will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, and broadcast nationally.
