Architect, Professor Carlos Jimenez to Present Lecture on Sept. 13 in Little Rock

Carlos Jimenez, a professor of architecture at Rice University and a practicing architect, will present a lecture Sept. 13 at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock.

LITTLE ROCK - Carlos Jimenez will present a lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Arkansas Arts Center, at Ninth and Commerce streets in Little Rock. The lecture, titled "Reflections and Some Recent Works," will follow a 5:30 p.m. reception.

This lecture launches the Architecture and Design Network's 2016-2017 lecture series.

Jimenez is a tenured professor of architecture at Rice University's School of Architecture. He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Houston School of Architecture, where he received awards for best thesis project and best portfolio.

He is a practicing architect, and his principal built works include the Richard E. Peeler Art Center at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana; the Hotel Saint George and Crowley House in Marfa, Texas; and the Cummins Engine Child Development Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Jimenez recently completed 10 years of service as a jury member of the Pritzker Prize, considered the "Nobel of architecture." He has been in demand as a lecturer, juror and visiting critic at universities and cultural institutions throughout the United States and abroad.

The 2016-2017 Art of Architecture lecture series is sponsored by the Architecture and Design Network, with support from the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Arkansas Arts Center, the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design and community members.
